Safeguarding Policy

Hemel Hempstead Town Cricket Club believes that:

  • A Child’s welfare is the first consideration.
  • All children, regardless of age, disability, gender, racial origin, religious belief or sexual identity have a right to be protected from abuse.
  • Children & young people must be treated with integrity & respect.
  • Children & young people’s programmes & competitions will be relevant to their ages & stages of development.

Hemel Hempstead Town Cricket Club is committed to follow the current ECB Child Welfare guidelines documented in the publication SAFE HANDS, Welfare of Young People in Cricket Policy.

Our key features are:

  • High standards of conduct are expected, both on & off the field. Adult volunteers, parents & guardians are expected to lead by example.
  • Volunteers will be required to provide information for screening purposes.
  • A condition of membership is that juniors may be suspended or membership terminated without refund in the event of unacceptable behaviour, including drug abuse, bullying, sledging and any other form of bad sportsmanship or conduct.
  • Hemel Hempstead Town Cricket Club supports the development of all players including those with health & learning difficulties. Parents & guardians have a responsibiliy to obtain appropriate medical advice and keep the club informed.
  • Parents & guardians are responsible for travel arrangementsand ensuring adequate adult supervision is available before dropping off their child. Children under 12 should not be left unsupervised in any location at any time.
  • Coaching & playing areas will be made as safe as possible while recognising that accidents may happen. Juniors must wear appropriate clothing and kit (including helmets) for hard ball matches and practice sessions.
  • Where help is required for dressing or first aid, two adults should assist whenever possible.

Any concerns should be discussed with Hemel Hempstead Town Cricket Club’s Safeguarding Officer or alternatively with a team manager.
